The Saikyo Residency Raffle was a drawing and competition that MCO players could join by building a house in Saikyo. The Raffle prize was 10 Diamond Blocks, with additional prizes awarded based on merit.

Location

True to it's name, the raffle was held in Saikyo.

History

Context

The raffle came about as getplayerhead.sh?Hirudo6&16.png Hirudo6 was planning ways to draw attention to his primary project and mark on Freedonia. Inspired by contests of old, but very poor materially, Hirudo devised the idea of holding a building competition slash raffle. The looser format would allow for a large, tantalizing reward anyone could win, in tandem with a different award that would be easier to produce.

Controversy

"Why should I go to that island again?"-getplayerhead.sh?boxzy&16.png boxzy
The residency raffle was effectively spoiled by mod-turned-admin getplayerhead.sh?AlphaAlex115&16.png AlphaAlex115 (known also as getplayerhead.sh?Kittyboy666&16.png Kittyboy666, getplayerhead.sh?OilTrows&16.png OilTrows, and getplayerhead.sh?OiTrowls&16.png OiTrowls.) He frequented the town and its competition grounds, killing any players there. Items taken from kills were often burned to spite the players that protested.

Over half of the participants were affected by this, and many have refused to visit Saikyo again out of fear of being killed.
