Saikyo (西京) is a Japanese-themed City located in the western oceans of Freedonia and the center of the Daybreak Union.
Creation and History
The foundation of Saikyō was laid when
Hirudo6 built the Saikyō port and Customs office on July 23rd, 2018. Over the next short period, Hishigata Park, the visitor center, public farm, and Ryokan were all built as well. As of 8/8/18 the enchanting station, watchtower, Shinto Shrine, Beacon, and Potion shop were added.
On August 11th, Admin
techkid6 connected the town to the nexus, prompting the addition of a landing pad and a new road. Nine days later, the rail station was completed, and has yet to be linked to any locations. By August 27th, the Maneki-Neko Statue and
mk59apr's Great Coxwell Barn replica were both completed. Expansion into the swamp biome for the European district was also begun.
On the 17th of September, massive updates to town infrastructure were both started and completed, including standardization of roads, new tunnels, plans for public facilities, and a general nicening of several construction areas. Several weeks later, the town center was completely cleansed to more effectively use the space. Casualties of this event included the original public farm, the cobble hut that housed the Saikyo Nether Portal, and Hishigata park. These buildings were replaced by the Saikyo Printing Office, the bookstore, and a commons area. The original structures were either relocated or planned to be.
The Landscapocalypse
To make way for the increasing urbanization of the town, mass clearing of trees to the west and terraforming of dirt to the east of the island on which Saikyo resides was begun. To date, roughly 1/2 of the total trees have been cleared, consuming 3 unenchanted diamond axes in the process. The large hill where most of the tree clearing took place became the site of the town hall. On the eastern half, the Kyojuu district was formed into a series of tiers, clearing the way for residential plots.
On October 19th,
DavidRodas01 became the first official resident of the town. Later,
Owlsflame built several new houses in the housing district, and both
ItsADeathTrap and
ChocoboFan01 began construction on their houses as well.

Early in November of 2018, Saikyo’s links to the greater Freedonian world were broadened, as it’s Nexus pads were refurbished and relocated. In using her admin powers to help achieve this,
Anna_28 left behind an extraneous Nexus return pad. While it still functions, it has since been sealed off as a relic. Several days later, Saikyo’s Nether Portal was rebuilt and relit, with eventual plans to create a link the the NHS.
How to get there
Saikyo can be reached through the Nexus via the West Hub (Blue) 3

- Oak wood is strictly banned as a primary building material, with certain permitted exceptions. All other wood types are allowed, though Spruce is preferred.
- Stone and other gray blocks are encouraged to cohere with the rest of the town, but may not be the sole material used.
- No “cube” buildings, meaning buildings must have some depth or an interesting design.
- Tall buildings (exact measurements TBD) must be approved before construction and must be separated from other similarly sized buildings.
