This is a list of significant events and changes affecting the server and Freedonia throughout its lifetime.

Effectively, this page is intended as a comprehensive history of the server.

2010

August

• 4 August 2010 - Minecraft 1.0.15 released - first public release of survival multiplayer.
• 4 August 2010 - MinecraftOnline.com registered [1], server created on hemingway by  SlowRiot, who makes himself and  runechan admins. runechan creates Freedonia and approves it. Server enters private testing.
• 6 August 2010 - LlamaCraft released, making it possible to disable fire and TNT - the first effective antigrief solution.
• 6 August 2010 - hMod released, making it possible to have moderators as well as admins.
• 6 August 2010 - MinecraftOnline opens to the public, running LlamaCraft and hMod.
• 7 August 2010 -  Flippeh,  Rizual and  whogotmynick promoted to the server's first moderator positions.
• 8 August 2010 -  Tommyx50 promoted to moderator.
• 9 August 2010 -  Minarr promoted to moderator.
• 10 August 2010 -  chivalrousWeasel promoted to moderator.
• 12 August 2010 - Minecraft 1.0.16 released - online authentication enabled, so it becomes possible to run a safe public server.
• 13 August 2010 -  Flippeh promoted to admin.
• 13 August 2010 -  xeroremorse and  BoonTheMoon promoted to moderator.
• 19 August 2010 -  Dokie_Okie and  Carnaugh promoted to moderator.
• 22 August 2010 -  Minarr demoted to ordinary user following abuse of item spawning.
• 22 August 2010 -  Tinowyn promoted to moderator.

September

• 4 September 2010 - 1,000th unique player connects to the server.
• 1 September 2010 -  Hellstar and  darkthief101 promoted to moderator.
• 2 September 2010 -  TBSliver promoted to moderator.
• 10 September 2010 - Minecraft 1.1.0 released - serverside inventory enabled, making it possible to enforce true survival without item spawning.
• 11 September 2010 -  bastetfurry promoted to moderator.
• 28 September 2010 -  Dommys promoted to moderator.
• 29 September 2010 -  darkthief101 demoted to ordinary user following an incident of abuse of the mod stick.
• 29 September 2010 -  nickcwly promoted to moderator.

October

• 2 October 2010 - Server's 100th ban (player demon1227).
• 2 October 2010 -  XeroXer promoted to moderator.
• 10 October 2010 -  Arctos13 promoted to moderator.

November

• 6 November 2010 -  Tommyx50 demoted to ordinary user.
• 7 November 2010 -  At0m1Ca15 promoted to moderator.

2011

January

• 2 January 2011 - 10,000th unique player connects to the server.
• 13 January 2011 - Minecraft 1.2 released. Forces a client update, so MinecraftOnline is forced to switch to a temporary world until hMod is updated.
• 20 January 2011 - Meaglin releases a fork of hMod for 1.2.
• 25 January 2011 - Donation system begins development and private testing.
• 20 January 2011 -  bastetfurry promoted to admin.
• 25 January 2011 - Donation system introduced to the public.

February

• 6 February 2011 -  shobble promoted to moderator.
• 10 February 2011 -  shobble promoted to admin.
• 11 February 2011 -  Acsidol promoted to moderator.
• 12 February 2011 - Server migrated from hemingway to revenant.
• 18 February 2011 - Minecon Feb '11 held in Edinburgh. Much booze is consumed, primarily by  SlowRiot.
• 20 February 2011 -  Tayron promoted to moderator.
• 22 February 2011 - Minecraft 1.3 released. Forces a client update, so MinecraftOnline is forced to switch to a temporary world until hMod is updated.
• 28 February 2011 - Meaglin releases a fork of hMod for 1.2.

March

• 3 March 2011 -  ToneDial and  chivalrousWeasel promoted to admin.
• 3 March 2011 -  Causeless (formerly  Tommyx50) promoted to moderator for the second time.

• 15 March 2011 - Server's 1000th ban (player  AlotaFagina).

• 1 April 2011 - Minecraft 1.4 update released. Server kept back awaiting canary update.
• 1 April 2011 -  Zymes promoted to moderator. Everyone thinks it's an april fools' joke. It's not.
• 4 April 2011 - Server updated to Minecraft 1.4 with canary B4.
• 8 April 2011 - Server's 2000th ban (player  Yaominghu).
• 10 April 2011 - Previous long-held record for most bans in one day - 119 bans (superceded by 21 May 2011).
• 16 April 2011 - This wiki created.
• 17 April 2011 -  AgentMuu and  imaMINOR promoted to moderator.
• 19 April 2011 - Minecraft 1.5 update released. Server kept back awaiting canary update.
• 27 April 2011 - Server updated to Minecraft 1.5 with canary B5.
• 29 April 2011 -  SavageClown demoted to ordinary user as it was felt he no longer represented the server appropriately.
• 30 April 2011 -  lacrosse1991 and  Krenath promoted to admins.

May

• 5 May 2011 -  Quizlibet promoted to moderator.
• 11 May 2011 - Server's 3000th ban (player  kidshango).
• 15 May 2011 - May Unrest.
• 18 May 2011 -  GodlyCheeze and  ModernMyth7 promoted to moderator.

• 29 June 2011 - Due to a drunken admin,  Lothendal and  dorn284 were promoted to moderator.
• 30 June 2011 - Minecraft 1.7 released. Server kept back awaiting canary update.

• 8 July 2011 - Minecraft 1.7.3 released, finally fixing most of the bugs of 1.7.
• 15 July 2011 - Server updated to Minecraft 1.7.3 with canary B8.
• 24 July 2011 -  Machines_Are_Us promoted to moderator.

August

• 3 Aug 2011 - Server's 6000th ban (player  blane88).
• 4 Aug 2011 - Freedonia celebrates its first birthday with a Cake Party
• 5 Aug 2011 -  andreydio promoted to moderator by surprise.
• 5 Aug 2011 -  shypixel promoted to admin.
• 19 Aug 2011 -  Edessa,  Shintyx and  xxVegasxx promoted to moderator.
• 22 Aug 2011 - 22/08 Downtime.

September

• 9 Sep 2011 - Minecraft 1.8 prereleased. Nothing happens.
• 10 Sep 2011 -  Drathus42 and  KingOfCheeseLand promoted to moderator.
• 13 Sep 2011 - Server's 7000th ban (player  pacmanbuum).
• 14 Sep 2011 - Minecraft 1.8 official released. Server kept back awaiting canary update.
• 20 Sep 2011 -  ToneDial resigns his admin position due to real-life commitments, after being demoted to a moderator.
