Vanish is a nice player who likes building. Vanish is the founder and owner of VanishTown. He is another alternate account of infamous  SailBird. He was banned on 12th March 2021 for ban evasion.

This is a copy of an email sent to admins@minecraftonline.com following the abuse of moderator ServL and administrator 14mRh4X0r. This is for archival purposes and to prevent censorship of the email by admins.

Original email to admins@minecraftonline.com:

"Hello the dear administrators of MinecraftOnline Server Incorporated. I have a complaint I wish to levy against one 14mRh4X0r Administrator and one ServL Moderator. You see I was innocently minding my own business on my own private property when a wandering ServL moderator came into my domain. The ServL moderator did not ask permission to come aboard my domain mind you! ServL came aboard my house and attacked me with a diamond sword. I slaughtered them in self defence, and then ServL moderator teleported me to jail. An administrator, 14mRh4X0r then decided to /kill my innocent soul. My items were then deleted by Servl moderator and 14mRh4X0r administrator. This is unacceptable abuse by your staff. This will not stand. This kind of abuse is typical of a server run by a twelve year old girl. But of a server in this caliber I would expect better. Shame on you for allowing these individuals to commit heinous crimes against the playerbase. I believe I was targeted due to my African heritage and beliefs around the freedom of speech we all hold so dear. I am asking for the demotion or reprimand of these individuals (ServL moderator and 14mRh4X0r). Thank you for your time dearest administrators.

"Hello VanishTool,

Thank you for contacting us to complain -- we, the Admin Team, greatly value the views and opinions of those in our community -- even those which we may strongly disagree with, or which may absolutely lack logical efficacy and/or conducive empirical evidence.

You name 14mRh4X0r and ServL as the Administrator and Moderator, respectively, in your complaint.

You state that you were "minding [my own] business on my own private property when a wandering ServL moderator came into my domain". Private property is a curious concept on MinecraftOnline -- sure, you can make buildings and otherwise manipulate the world, to permit only yourself to modify your creations -- but there is little you can do to guarantee your privacy on your property. If you wished to have a private experience, as you seem to imply here, you would ideally play in a singleplayer world, or host your own Minecraft server.

MinecraftOnline is a publicly-accessible Minecraft server with a rich and long-standing legacy. It would only make sense for us Administrators to encourage players to explore Freedonia, and witness in detail the builds members of our community have produced.

You continue with "The ServL moderator did not ask permission to come aboard my domain mind you!"

Why should this Moderator (or any member of MinecraftOnline's Staff or general playerbase, for that matter) require any permission from you or anyone else to enter this publicly-accessible part of Freedonia? Furthermore, it seems as though this Moderator came in to check on you. This is the job of a Moderator.

Anyway.

I don't entirely buy this. Regardless...

This is perfectly within this Moderator's rights to do. In the case that this isn't a frequent, habitual affair, there is nothing wrong with this behaviour.

Similarly, there is absolutely nothing wrong with your action here: "I slaughtered them in self defence..."

It appears as though you were indeed taken into interrogation. This was so the Moderator would be able to talk to you in a safer environment. You were killed, and so as payback, of sorts, for your uncurteous behaviour towards our Moderator -- this action is entirely justified. You then proceeded to spam -- a bannable offence. We were kind this time.

You claim that "This is unacceptable abuse by your staff". I, personally, do not see how this is abuse -- if anything, it was a less-than-proportional reaction to your attitude.

You further claim "This kind of abuse is typical of a server run by a twelve year old girl". I disagree, for our sense of humour as a Staff team is, on average, much better than this, though you may not be capable of appreciating it.

You go on to shame us! "Shame on you for allowing these individuals to commit heinous crimes against the playerbase."

This is a curious accusation and shaming technique, for the Moderator team is there to prevent instances of our rules being broken, and to deal with the repercussions of actions performed through the breaking of our rules. I do not see any crimes being committed against the playerbase here, except for your actions thus:

1 - of inattentiveness towards a Moderator;

2 - of spamming in the chat;

3 - of wasting Administrator time with a complaint that was written in similar part with malice and with the intent to deceive, and from which you have very conveniently omitted your own unjustifiable actions (a very unfriendly lie of omission).

You say that you believe you were targeted:

While I have not interacted with you much in-game, I am not aware of any definitive statements to indicate that you are of African heritage. If you are referring to your communicative mannerisms (with the use of particular racially-associable words), it's really difficult to determine whether that would more be indicative of you being a proud person of African heritage, or instead of someone with the intent to troll deceive on, and maliciously complain about, a Minecraft server.

I have not seen anything which would serve to indicate that you have been targeted due to that criteria here.

You ask for the demotion or reprimand of the Moderator, ServL, and the Administrator, 14mRh4x0r.

In the case of ServL, I continue to fail to see anything you have truthfully mentioned here which would serve to incriminate them, and see no reason to take any disciplinary action against them.

Furthermore, 14mRh4X0r was entirely within his right to perform the actions he did. In the case he was not, however, I unfortunately lack any power to demote, reprimand, or do anything else to him in this vein, for he is logically either on the same level as me, or superior, depending on one's perspective. No particular Administrator has any power to reprimand or demote any other Administrator.

Since you were curteous enough to thank us for our time, I trust that you will take the time to read response in full, and consider how out-of-line your complaint and preceding actions were.

I provide you permission (nay, encourage you) to publish this response on the Wiki the same as you did with your complaint, in the interests of clarity and transparency. In doing this, I expect you to provide the full manuscript of this response, unaltered (including formatting), to remain in line with the ideals you set forth: "This is for archival purposes and to prevent censorship of the email by admins."

"Hello Ted and other administrators of MinecraftOnline Server Incorporated,

First, I would like to complement your quick response and the professionalism you have shown in the content of the message. This kind of exemplary response to a complaint brings your server to the top of the barrel so to speak in terms of Minecraft servers. This is not, as I had said before, the response "typical of a server run by a twelve year old girl".

That being said I also agree that ServL has a right to check upon the players of the server to ensure that rules are being followed. However there was no reason to kill me other than petty revenge from the administrator involved in the case. My reason for defending myself in my house goes as follows. Since I have joined the server I have been targeted by many staff members and donors for PVP. One individual had been teleporting to me, or teleporting me and killing me over and over (xanderstrike). Others such as Mechman007 and Leah_starcraft have made numerous attempts to kill me. I did not read the chat at the time and went in for the kill in order to defend myself from being slain by yet another moderator/donor. It may have been an overreaction, but that is what transpired. After I had killed ServL, he sent me to the jail where l4m /kill'd me and took all my items. /kill is not the same as a PVP kill. There was no reason he would need to kill me in order to do his job, which is make sure I am not griefing. This was purely as you have stated "payback" to feed his vain ego. In further analysis of the situation, and after reading your response I concur with you and do not believe disciplinary action is required against moderator ServL and administrator 14mRh4X0r. I however wish the situation was handled differently. If ServL had requested his items back from me I would have freely given them to him (the ones I picked up anyway given my inventory was almost full of cobblestone and wood at the time). This situation seems to have been a misunderstanding magnified by the actions of all three of us in this situation. That being said I will admit my fault where it was and I would hope ServL and 14m can admit theirs as well. We all share the blame for this getting out of hand. I have publicly apologized in the server chat for misunderstanding the situation and murdering ServL. My items were rather useless given I can just get more cobblestone and wood, so I am not particularly upset about them.

As for your accusations against my African Heritage, my father descended from slaves brought to the American continent centuries ago and freed in the American Civil War. My mother is a third generation Japanese American who grew up in a large American city. I am a proud mixed race individual as I have stated numerous times. I do not wish to disclose any further information in order to not dox myself or my family. My style of talking is just how we speak where I grew up.

That wraps up my response to your email, however after the first email I had another problem with one of the moderators on your server that I would like to address.

According to https://minecraftonline.com/wiki/Induction_for_Moderators "Moderator commands such as /tp $playername are not to be used for PvP". After I had written this email moderator Leah_Starcraft teleported to my house (that she located using mod commands) and then used /jumpto to get inside my house (which was designed to prevent her from coming inside) and attempt to kill me. The only reason I did not die to this was because I logged out of the game in order to save myself. This is seriously unprofessional given the above line about moderator commands not being used for PVP. According to https://minecraftonline.com/wiki/Misconceptions_of_Being_a_Mod "A Moderator who abuses their power usually don't get very far before they get caught. Such abuse is taken very seriously indeed and disciplinary action follows quickly. " I believe if you look into the logs (if you have console logs of when moderators /jumpto) you will be able to see that she jumped into my house, and given she is not a donor level that has access to /jumpto, it is a moderator command that should not be used for PVP.

Overall I have to say I have enjoyed your server and the free speech you offer on it. I respect the three rules you have set out on the server and I intend to follow them to the T. I do not wish to cause any concerns among admins given you seem to have the ability to do anything on the server without consequences. I will admit that I am a troll, as your rules and wiki explicitly state trolls and trolling are allowed. I am trying to maintain my trolling within your rules and get attention from the community. Given the responses I have been getting (from regular players and moderators alike) I plan to continue my current strategy that I have been using thus far.

I have been told by a few members of staff that they are worried I might I end up being banned over my actions. My intentions are to follow the rules and if it is required to not be banned I may alter my strategy (but only given the alternative is a ban). I've also been told that some users (searching the discord logs on your server I see the names JZtech101 and Githis) apparently start timing out or having connection problems as a covert way to be banned without actually being banned. I would ask out of courtesy that you at least warn me if you're going to do something like that as I enjoy this server immensely and I would change my course of action if the alternative would be not being able to connect. I hope you understand that I am not always sincere in my chat (except with these emails I am trying to be as sincere as possible). I do from time to time say things to get attention or to annoy people so they respond to me. I may have complained a lot in the chat, but deep down I truly really have enjoyed your server and the management thus far (even though we have had our problems). Thank you for taking your time to read to this email. I look forward to another excellent response from your team.

Here are two pastebins. The first one is an edited (annotated) version of my log file found in the .minecraft folder. The second one is the same section but without annotations and edits. You can verify both are accurate (one is just easier to read and explains what's happening) by comparing them to the discord or irc logs if you wish. Please read the annotations in the pastebin provided, as they will thoroughly explain my understanding of the situtation.

It is not my position to say what should happen to Leah_Starcraft over this, but my main concern is the actions that she takes in the future, rather than punishment. I don't believe a demotion is in order, but I would like for you to reach out your staff and explain that teleportation and mod knowledge shouldn't be used as an advantage against other players in PVP as the wiki states "Moderator commands such as /tp $playername are not to be used for PvP" (https://minecraftonline.com/wiki/Induction_for_Moderators). The policies of your server should be common knowledge among those who are tasked with enforcing them. Once again thank you for your time reading this and responding.
