The Continental Museum is one of the largest museums in Freedonia, built and maintained entirely by getplayerhead.sh?Aidan&16.png Aidan. It is home to hundreds of collectibles, event items, dungeon loot, map arts, player heads, town and player history, and even a timeline encompassing the entire history of MinecraftOnline!

History

getplayerhead.sh?Aidan&16.png Aidan has been collecting rare items on MinecraftOnline ever since he stumbled upon the first he had ever seen: a Pride 2021 block thrown to the ground at spawn. Over time - and especially since his return to the server in late 2023 - the collection has grown larger and larger, eventually spanning over 100 artifacts! But what's a collection like this without a proper home? So, on September 15th of 2023, as the first building in the upcoming metropolis of The Continental, construction on the Continental Museum began.

Architecture

The Continental Museum, modelled after the real-life Louvre Museum located in Paris, France, intricately fuses modern and traditional architecture to create a beautiful work of art much like the artifacts it holds. The exhibit buildings of the Continental Museum follow the style of French Renaissance-era architecture, primarily using End Stone Bricks and Sandstone to simulate the weathered cut stone makeup of the Louvre Palace. The pyramid and visitor's hall, on the other hand, are designed with Modernism in mind - they're constructed entirely of glass with a cut stone floor of Stone Brick (above ground) and Polished Andesite and Smooth Stone (underground), with Glowstone used to illuminate the Visitor's Hall, entirely submerged beneath the ocean. Additionally, an elevator system is located in the center of each wing for easy transport between floors, with an ice highway available at rooftop level for inter-wing travel.

Location

The museum is located in the Arts District of The Continental, on the southern end of the city. Reaching The Continental is most easily done by taking the Nexus System to the Blue 1 Borderlands Hub and using an elytra to travel north-northeast; only one firework is required. Additionally, The Continental can be accessed through getplayerhead.sh?George_Mann&16.png George_Mann's slab road connecting many of the southern Borderlands Hubs. Plans for boat, railway, portal, and nexus links are in place for the future.

Donations and Business

The Continental Museum is always looking to expand our collection to preserve more of MinecraftOnline's history for the public to enjoy. If you would like to help us with that goal, please consider donating spare collectibles or diamond blocks to the Continental Museum to fund our expansion! A secure donation chest is available in the Visitor's Center underneath the pyramid - please include a written book detailing your donations if you would like credit. If you'd like to donate a large collection of items, please contact Aidan in-game or on Discord (@MCBYT). All donors are displayed publicly at the Donor Wall, located at the back of the Visitor Center.

Spare collectibles owned by the Continental Museum can be purchased at the gift shop located in the Visitor Center, as well as at the Continental Outpost located on the Orange floor of the Diamond Mall.
