JoshuaGraham1 joins the server for the first time. He roams the spawn area for two days, then takes the cart going south-west, establishes a little base, and begins working on a farmland.
May 2026
Joshua meets spacecool, who bases less than 1km away from Joshua's base. Initially cautious, Joshua is glad someone lives nearby, as the other nearby bases are small, underdeveloped, and abandoned.
June 2026
On June 13th, spacecool puts up several windmills in the area and announces he is planning to terraform the nearby desert into a farmland. Joshua agrees to join his farm to spacecool's future one, wanting to build the biggest farmland on the server.
That same day, spacecool tells Joshua he wants to build a medieval-style town at X: -5700, Z: 20685. The place is one giant forest, and spacecool needs to cut it all down. Joshua thinks, and decides to lend a hand in cutting down some of this jungle. No promises are made, but Joshua eventually logs back online a few days later and begins cutting down everything in his path. He goes through multiple (>10) diamond axes (unbreaking III).
JUNE 2026 BATTLES
21ST JUNE
On June 21st, around 11am-1pm, Joshua met Matbot_ at the xp farm in Newport. Joshua felt that Matbot_ wasn't interested in cooperation (no response to chat messages), and at some point Matbot_ went up to the afk room and stayed there for several minutes, lagging the killing box on the floor below with mobs.
Joshua attempted to get Matbot_ to stop by hitting him once and asking not to stay up in the afk room for too long. But when Matbot_ did the same thing for the second time, Joshua killed Matbot_ and looted his stuff:
- Enchanted diamond armour;
- Enchanted diamond sword and axe;
- 5 diamond blocks + 30 diamonds;
- 1 shulker;
- Bullshit (e.g. crafting table, terracota, sign, etc)
Matbot_ started crying in chat and instantly -repped Joshua. In total, 3-4 -reps came through from different players. Joshua ignored Matbot_'s demands for his looted stuff.
Around 1pm, two players formed a gang against Joshua:
(Side note: Duxizon had pvp'd Joshua minutes prior, and Joshua suspected him to be in cahoots with eleanorsilly and baltxe. That was incorrect. Joshua believed he was up against three enemies, when really he was fighting just two people.)
They found his base while he was afk and camped outside it. Joshua would combat-log and use /spawn to evade them -- he couldn't take on all of them.
While at spawn, Joshua received numerous messages condemning his killing of Matbot_ and demanded Joshua return his property. Additionally, he was informed of a Newport rule against killing other players. Joshua realized that headhunters would come after him over this, and pondered his next steps.
Cautious about traps, he tp'd home and scouted the area for intruders. No one was nearby, but a teleport trail was right outside his home, so he knew to expect company. He quickly opened the right chest and pulled out Matbot_'s enchanted armour, still unsure if to return it or throw it into lava to punish Matbot_ for the witchhunt he had helped organize and stealing his rep.
Joshua heard someone tp closeby, and he forgot to place a wool block over his diamond tools and armour chest he had just accessed before running out of his tightly-packed, unfinished base, to the plain around his base to prepare for a fight.
(Nothing went missing from the chest, or at least no more than one or two theoretical items that Joshua did not notice going missing)
eleanorsilly followed him down the steps and confronted him.
Joshua quickly recognized that eleanorsilly is a cunning player who uses deception in their dealings with other players, including pvp. For example:
- eleanorsilly tp'd to Joshua's home after he had left spawn and followed him outside. Joshua hit him/her once, but waited. eleanorsilly placed down a sign that said: "open the chat", which Joshua understood as an invitation to negotiations. Then out of nowhere, baltxe ran down the stairs and proceeded to strike at Joshua; eleanorsilly immediately joined the fray;
- After rejoining the server, Joshua spotted eleanorsilly outside his base and began attacking. Unarmed, eleanorsilly refused to engage and talked to him in chat, telling him to give back Matbot_'s stuff and told Joshua he/she would kill him if he didn't stop attacking him/her. Joshua ceased attacking eleanorsilly, waiting to see if they will remain peaceful, but soon baltxe ran down the stairs again, eleanorsilly immediately drew his/her sword, and they both fell upon him.
Joshua would try to log back into the server and either get away or kill his pursuers, but they were ready. Joshua read a book for 30-45 mins and tried to get back, but eleanorsilly and baltxe waited. Joshua tried again after several minutes, but they were still there. He tried a couple of times, but his pursuers were relentless.
Finally, at around 4pm, Joshua returned from an irl shop and tried to log in, but his pursuers were still online, so he waited some more. But they logged off shortly after, so he rejoined and was safe once more.
BATTLE AFTERMATH
Joshua took an ego and prestige hit. He had lost -3 or -4 rep. Moreover, he decided to return Matbot_'s stuff, which included everything except his alleged pickaxe that Joshua did not have. Thus Matbot_ got his 5 diamond blocks + 30 diamonds + shulker + enchanted armour back.
Joshua furthermore felt it necessary to give Matbot_ +1 rep, which, although completely undeserved, was an important part of war reparations he thought were non-negotiable due to the strength of Matbot_'s "alliance" -- or his two guardians -- and the fact Joshua had no idea where they based and did not think he could find them and retaliate for their dishonourable actions, namely their protection of an undeserving noob.
("Dishonourable actions" and "undeserving noob" are Joshua's own subjective opinions, not objective facts)
Moreover, Joshua noticed that some of his un-wooled chests were empty. According to a rough estimate, the gang destroyed/looted:
- ~60 stacks of hay bales
- ~80 stacks of saplings
- some unimportant items (probably)
Many chests full of random shit were left alone, however.
The most important chests (e.g. minerals, building blocks, food, enchanted books, etc) survived intact. Wool over chests seems non-negotiable on MCO; had Joshua not done that, he would have lost everything.
baltxe and eleanorsilly talked about placing withers around Joshua's base, and baltxe claimed they had done so at 7pm, although I had not seen any withers when scouting the area for damage.
As of 9pm, eleanorsilly pledged to continue harassing Joshua and keep attacking him. His/her attitude was openly antagonistic, and even included a joke about Joshua's penis being smaller than his/hers (?)
The battle may not be over yet (!)
