This page created to document the building of Dragon Circle, second dragon build for mk59apr.
The build is now progressing on the site, starting with building some nether fortresses copied from single player 1.7 nether
^ Above is a screenshot from sketchup, beginning the design process. I plan to create a circle of flying dragons, spinning around a central point.
^ May 9, 2020: I had some problems with building the dragons in sketchup, I was using the new web-based version and it just hasn't worked out.
So, started a rebuild in Sketchup2016. I have the dragon rebuilt, now just need to get ingame and sort out the landscape so I can rebuild the environment again. Onwards!
^ nether fortess construction on MCO
^ Above the dragons flying in sketchup, design is never like you think it will be lol. Had to change this around several times.
Next step is to build out from the central column, and into each dragon just like the blocks would be in minecraft(ie: not angled blocks)
And then do it on the server. I note that the nether fortress has some chests, just like they do in vanilla MC.
^ Sketchup screenshot of the conversion process from the angled originals to something that can be built in minecraft.
Also I've now gotten one dragon built on the server and it actually looks not bad. Very excited to see this project moving forward as I've realized it's been a creative block for a couple of years now... as I work through this, I can feel that other ideas have been waiting for these dragons to be finished, so all the frustration I"m having with the actual conversion process is gonna be worth it.
2020july12: I did a quick video with some of the images above, and a /render from MCO: https://youtu.be/uD39w_Ecw-U I notice that the chests at the Dragon Circle site have not yet been raided....
