Grades of Grief

In order to more easily summarize the extent of an incident of grief, the following grades are proposed:

Grade S

  • The player may or may not know the rules, but wouldn't care if they did.
  • The player logged on for the explicit purpose of doing as much damage as they could before being caught.

Grade A

  • The player knows and understands the rules but expect to be able to get away with breaking the rules when it's convenient.
  • This includes such things as X-Raying, hacking, using unapproved mods, or simply stealing from locked chests or placing or breaking blocks they don't think anyone will notice.

Grade B

  • The player thinks they know the rules but they have completely misinterpreted them
  • The player may be obeying rules from a different server they are more familiar with, mistakenly thinking the same rules apply on MCO.

Grade C

  • The player may or may not know the rules. They understand that things on the server were built by other players, but think they're allowed to take whatever they want or need anyway.

Grade D

  • The player has no idea the rules or even other players exist. They just want to play, but they ran past the rules when they joined without reading or understanding them and so are playing the game as if the entire server is their own personal singleplayer world

Grade F

  • The player knows the rules and follows them, but they broke blocks completely by accident, such as while in combat or because it was not obvious that the blocks they broke were player-placed.
