Ithania is a region located in South-East Freedonia that is almost entirely bordered by the ocean.
History
Ithania came into existence with the map's Freedonia Expansion #2 in August 2021. The region was almost entirely void of any player activity, despite it being next to a Nexus Portal, aside from 2-3 claim markers and 2-3 small survival bases that have been abandoned, until Blackrew began development of the town of Valgarde on the region's southern end on July 10th, 2022. The Fulcrum, however, would ultimately become the first completed major development in Ithania in September 2022.
The region was named by Blackrew on July 11th, 2022 to be a help for navigational and historical purposes.
Geography
Ithania consists exclusively of forest, plains, savanna, and desert biomes, with the native tree types being oak, birch, and acacia.
The natural boundaries of Ithania are largely clear-cut and well-defined. The region is almost entirely surrounded by ocean, with its only land border being a narrow sand landmass in the very north of the region (top left of the photo). This narrow landmass is similar to the real-life isthmus that separates the North and South American continents. Yet, it may be more reasonable to refer to Ithania as a region rather than a continent due to its small size and lack of biodiversity. However, it could also just be a very small continent, as it is well separated from surrounding landmasses.
The desert landmass in the southern end of the region can be considered part of Ithania despite it being surrounded by ocean due to its close proximity to the main landmass as well as looking like it would naturally fit like a puzzle piece if shifted into the main landmass.
Points of Interest
Etc.
While a player naming an entire region is largely an unofficial and unenforceable action, it's a neat detail that hopefully makes the region more immersive and unique.
