Craftbook Page

This Craftbook mechanism places or removes a single block up to 9 blocks from the sign. The sign must be placed on a block. It will not work if placed on the ground. There must be a path from the sign and the intended location must be clear before the first activation. A chest containing a block of the block type specified on the sign shall be placed nearby.

Unlike most Craftbook ICs right clicking the sign will NOT activate it. Only a redstone signal on a circuit leading into the space the sign is in will. Powering the block the sign is on will also not activate it.

Details

First line
leave blank when creating the sign, filled in with "FLEX SET" when accepted
Second Line
[MCX206]
Third Line
  • a single character selecting the Axis (x, y, or z)
    • note that 0 (zero) is valid; but using zero will cause the sign to break when the block is removed
  • direction (+ or -)
  • a single numeric digit giving the distance (0-9)
  • a literal colon (":") followed by an Item ID
  • (optionally) a literal at sign, '@', followed by a Colour Code
Fourth Line
If this line contains a capital H the placed block will be removed when the sign is de-activated.

Notes on the Sign's Formatting

The Item ID is required. Nearly any solid block can be used, including glass blocks, some transparent blocks, like fence posts and glass panes. Slabs will not work. When the block type can have an appearance options, the Code may be added following an At-Sign ('@'), but this is not required.

The optional H on the fourth line means that the block placed when the sign is activated will be removed when the sign is deactivated, thus toggling the block. If it is not used the block will remain once placed.

Examples

[MCX206]
Y+2:35@5
H

Place a yellow wool block (35@5) 2 blocks above the sign, and leave it there.

[MCX206]
Z-4:95@4

Places a Lime Green Stained Glass 4 blocks in the negative Z direction from the sign.

Notable and Practical Uses

  • Creating intricate door designs with many types of blocks
  • Automatically locking chests
  • Most notably used in the Updated Freedonian Traffic Control

Bugs

  • Overwrites the target block, regardless of block type
  • Placement of any Double Slab does not work (and does not say that it is not an allowed type)
