Story Mode, first named and solidified as a concept by StanDudek, allows players to share stories in turn, usually from, but not limited to, their personal lives. Story Mode would not be possible without MinecraftOnline's free speech stance.
Player's Account of First Official Story Mode Session
Story Mode started at approximately 20:30 (GMT -6) on May 8, 2011, sparked by a dramatic and unapologetic retelling of StanDudek life, focusing on the most recent 5 years, and his wisdom gained throughout.
As if the inhibitions which kept players from actually getting to know each other on a non-virtual basis had suddenly been lifted, many others joined in, each taking their turn to tell their own stories.
The stories continued for the rest of the evening, and included over 30 different people who had been logged in for those 5 hours.
The significance of Story Mode, is that it briefly and fantastically brought the whole MinecraftOnline community together, where they could share their own stories, and senses of humor.

With plans in the works by 
Charlesbaechler and StanDudek to create an outdoor amphitheatre, there will certainly be more evenings of grand story telling to come.
