The Battalion is the ultimate arena of MinecraftOnline, located in the bustling metro of The Continental. Our games are freely open to the public, and you can start a new minigame at the flick of a switch!
History
As Aidan travelled across MinecraftOnline and competed in event after event, he felt that most arenas were somewhat... lacking. Phoenix Isles Stadium is amazing, but rarely hosts events. Mistral Arena is fun, but it's only open for spleef and PvP. Even Kanal Town Stadium can be hard to get to, and spleef costs money to host. So, with that knowledge, he set out to construct the perfect Minecraft arena. Not too big, not too small. Not too simple, not too lavish. And most of all, it needs to be stuffed full with fun minigames for the citizens of The Continental to enjoy! Thus, The Battalion was born.
Architecture
The architecture of The Battalion is a slight departure from the typical theming of The Continental - while still making use of French Neoclassical columns and utilizing stone-based material throughout the build, the exterior is primarily wooden, and the entrance is reminiscent of a castle's gate. The interior follows the black-and-purple hues of The Continental, with contrasting tones of bright purpur and dark nether brick used for seating. These splashes of color pop in the midst of the remainder of the arena, built with a classy grayscale palette made up of stone brick, stone slab, polished andesite, gray and black carpet, and of course, the bright white snow of the Spleef field.
Minigames
- PvP - Ol' Reliable. Whether it's a duel, a teamfight or a free-for-all, our wide-open field can handle it with ease!
- Spleef - The quintessential Minecraft minigame, use a shovel to dig the snowy floor out from beneath your opponents and drop them to the ground - the last man standing wins!
- Arctic Drift - Like Tokyo Drift, but colder. Hop in a boat and drift around this icy course, avoiding the tricky turns and slippery obstacles, and race your friends for the fastest lap!
- Sumo - Classic hand-to-hand combat with a twist - if you fall off the floating platform, you lose! When TPS allows, sumo is the perfect simple game to pass the time.
- Capture The Flag - Our most advanced game yet! Gather a team and devise a strategy to steal the enemy's flag without getting caught. Will you go with the stealth strategy, lurking in the shadows until the time is right? Or maybe you'll go with the tank approach, barreling through your opponents and stealing their flag in the midst of all the chaos. The choice is yours!

July 28th, 2024: The Disaster Bowl - As a celebration of the new arena and The Continental's nomination in the 2024 MCO Awards, a large spleef tournament of 15~ people was held at The Continental. However, just as the games were about to begin, the dreaded timeout glitch struck, barring Aidan from joining the server to host. The games proceeded with the announcer messaging through Discord, but without any regulator to keep things under control, the event quickly descended into chaos. By the fourth round, it had devolved into a bloodbath, and by the time Aidan was finally able to return to the server, he could finally witness the disaster this event had been; the arena was deserted, three men were dead, and the arena had been griefed in four different places.
