Yashika is a small village built by getplayerhead.sh?YugRekooh&16.png YugRekooh. It was founded in 2021.

Fishing Hamlet of Yashika. A few buddist monks live here practicing Zen and the art of boat building. They specialize in small wooden craft with square sail rigs. The yachts don't work very well, which is why the monks are still here. They cannot escape.

Location

Yashika is a damn close to the southern edge or the world. Locals worry that they may fall off in the next earthquake.

Yashika is about 2km or so south of Newport City, and a rough half marathon to the center of Freedonia. Its a damn long way to run.

Some History

There are eight significant traditional Japanese styled buildings in Yashika, There are also a plethora of Torii (Gates) including the impressive red torii at the harbour entrance. It is believed that Yashika was first inhabited in the 15th century by cave dwellers. Structures have been built above the caves. Over the centuries some fine Japanese gardens have been crafted, spoilt only by annoying mobs of spiders that hang around. A death squad has been sent out to kill them all but they keep on returning.

Furthering the Japanese theme much of Yashika is being established as a Rhododendron garden / forest. Rhododendrons are collected by botanists from around the world, but mainly Burma and Nepal.

Yacht Racing

A popular pastime amongst the locals is small boar sailing. Yachts sail a Sailing Federation standard triangular course between 3 buoys in their hand crafted wooden boats. The yachts are 2 meters long and 1 meter wide with a square rigged sail. Photograph of the final leg of the recent world championship event.

Hypnotic Itsukushima Shrine

The famous Shrine brings in tourists from all corners of the earth. This is very awkward, since the earth is round, and doesn't really have corners. Anyway it is long and shriney. Orange and Grey. Hand built and lovingly cared for by local volunteers.

Hippies come here to pick the blue flowers and zone out while wandering down past the 28 Torri.

Yashika Sign.png

Yashika SIgn

The image above clearly shows the Yashika Village Sign. Built by miners many eons ago, using polished marble hand cut from local cliffs. The beautiful white marble sign was poorly enhanced with the red English sign in recent years by drunk teenagers visiting the village for yachting. The Japanese Historic Places Trust is considering removing the red sign to restore the site back to it's original state.
