Cartwheel Tower is the above ground structure of UnderWorld.
The extravagance of a multi-part structure rising from bedrock to the height of the sky set the bar high for all following construction projects in Freedonia.
At the "hub" is a large central tower connected to eight peripheral towers by roadways that form the spokes and the wheel of a "cartwheel". The Underworld's largest drop pool is at its base, providing quick access from the surface. Each peripheral tower caps a shaft leading down to the centre of a dome in Underworld, originally providing illumination and access. With the passing of time drop pools were removed from the eight smaller shafts and they are now only providing light in the depths.
The central tower reaches to the (old) sky limit providing an wonderful view of the surrounding forest and roads. The peripheral towers rise to the level of the crossroads of each of the eight "spoke" roads and the ring road connecting them.
History
The tower was the first of a series of towers by SlowRiot constructed as a prelude to the excavation of Underworld.
