The Dernal Mountains are a large mountain range located west of Kanal Town and south of the town of Dernal. They act as a psychical barrier that separates one of Freedonias largest cities from the communities to its west. The mountains are also home to Freedonias current tallest mountain, being Mount Dernal which hits world height.
History
Started in 2017 because of SiOtter wanting a backdrop to his survival base for renders, the mountains early appearance was representative of the hikes he had been on as a child. Mountain construction paused from 2018-2020 due to a ban for grief, before resuming with the completion of Mount Dernal in 2021. In 2023 Mount Kanal was added to the range, and the peaks wrere snowcapped. In 2024 glaciers and striations were added to the mountains. Finally in 2026 Mount Kanal, Mount Dernal, and Mount Mosasaur were all connected via a Ridgeline and a series of glaciers making a proper mountain range.

The tallest of the mountains and the ranges namesake, this mountain is the most visible from Kanal Town and Annaheim. Previously known as Mount Mosasaur
Mount Fillip
Named after 
Fillipaddas, one of Kanal Town's oldest residents.
Mount Kanal
Named after Kanal Town to the east.
Mount Hyper
Smallest of the range, named Kanal Town cower 
HyperDray.
Mount Mosasaur
Oldest of the range construction wise, formerly known as mount Dernal before the name was given to the previous Mount Mosasaur.
