In the heart of Aurora is one of the most sacred sites in all of Veserva.
History
The Lotus Orb is the oldest relic in Aurora, predating most of the city's infrastructure. It's age is indeterminate, with estimates ranging from the city's founding to the very beginning of time in memoriam. Many have speculated about it's purpose over the years, but ultimately it has proven quite elusive. Popular theories include that it was a model of the world, or even an ancient cryptum-like stasis chamber. Other's believe it could have been the forge that created the legendary Stargazer sword. Early theories were closer tied to astronomical uses given the town's general history, but the predating of The Dawn War has disproved these.
Originally, the builders would climb up the mound by hand. It wasn't until Aurora's founding that the winding staircase was built. Nowadays, the Lotus Orb is a popular meditation spot. People come to study and absorb it's ancient knowledge, soaking in the skies above Starlight Valley.
