Well, this is going to be interesting -jriver_15

While this does start off a bit edgily, dictionary quotes and whatnot, it does make some good points- however, I'd like to add on some things. I think this is a valid expression of the frustrations many players, newbies and regulars alike, share, but don't express out loud. However, there are common misconceptions players hold too. I'd like to go over this. Hirudo6 06:41, 11 December 2020 (UTC)
Mismanagement
It's no surprise McO has been plagued by inactive staff. I first joined in an era (2018ish) where mods were few and admins even fewer. Only four staff were promoted the entire year. However, in the context of minecrafts history, it makes sense. MC started out, very early on, as a sort of niche game, not popular and played by everyone. So, McO was the same. Then mc exploded, rode the hype train, and died around 2014 and 15. The server entered a new era, people stopped caring, the server got neglected. It wasn't a priority.

And it changed again in 2019. The modern McO, while not perfect, is far better than before. The staff tries to work problems out as a team. And the server IS being updated. We have a test server that is proof of that.

As for your issue with Waffle, well that sounds like a personal grievance. You should talk to them about it.

Griefing and moderators
I'm not sure what the issue is here. The rules exist to enforce "true survival, without the grief." The problem with that us that what this means isn't entirely clear. It has been up to a staff members discretion on how they enforce the rules. But generally, keeping players who try to break or subvert three very simple rules from continuing to do so is the standard.

A big reason people play on this server is to contribute to ten years of history. If you feel Freedonia is too much like a museum... why don't you go add a new wing? Just don't ruin the legacy of everyone else.

Slowriot
While Slowriot is a very enigmatic character to most anyone joining in recent years, this section seems to be based on a lot of untrue notions. Like I mentioned earlier, McO went through a long period of neglect between its golden age and the modern day. The code is being entirely rewritten in a whole new format. The fact we are migrating to Sponge has been known for years. There isn't really much attachment to the old code.

Bashing on Slowriot is not going to help anyone. He isn't a tyrannical overlord with a stranglehold on every facet of freedonia, but nor is he an active leader in the server. He has his own life and obligations outside of a block game. Judging him for a perceived responsibility to manage everything is unfair and inaccurate.

Conclusion
The past has been dark, but the future of McO is brighter than ever. Have some optimism that things are changing for the better.

  • Very nice response Hirudo6, was going to write one myself, but I would say you covered all the bases quite nicely. I would have started rambling on about "Freedonianism" and all that. Well YOMPISBAD, you have excelled my expectations and actually gone out and wrote a legitimate response to what you see in MCO. You have definitely done better than most new players who usually just get pissed and say we suck on vague notions of a moral high ground. And yeah I hope you stick with us and build something of your own on MCO; it be interesting if time on the server will affect your interpretation of it. Jriver 15 02:31, 12 December 2020 (UTC)
