WARNING: THIS TOWN IS CHIEFLY HYPOTHETICAL! IT DOES NOT EXIST AND WILL NEVER EXIST, RATHER IT'S A THOUGHT EXPERIMENT TO SEE HOW A TOWN WHERE GRIEFING IS ALLOWED WOULD OPERATE. GRIEF IS STRICTLY AGAINST THE RULES IN MCO! FOR MORE INFO, PLEASE SEE THE FOLLOWING PAGE: Grief

Vegas, also No Man's Town, is a hypothetical town where griefing is allowed, envisioned mainly by getplayerhead.sh?HY_Turkic&16.png HY_Turkic and getplayerhead.sh?ThatIntelMacUser&16.png ThatIntelMacUser. In this hypothetical, the town Vegas allows griefing within its borders, albeit with strict measures on what griefing is allowed and what is not.

As mentioned, this is only a thought experiment to see how such a town would work on a server with strict moderation of its anti-griefing rule, rather than an actual town. Below you will see how it might work, and the reasons why it shouldn't exist.

PLEASE DO NOT CREATE THIS TOWN!

How It Would Work

Vegas would be surrounded by a fence, within which the griefing of builds is allowed. Outside the fence would lie a permission board where residents have to agree to the town's rules and put their name on it, which would strongly dictate how griefing would function inside the town. For example, the town's griefing rules (or lack thereof) would only apply inside the fence, and griefing anything outside of it (i.e. the permissions board) would be counted as actual grief and would be dealt with.

For such a town to exist, most if not all active staff members would have to consent to its existence. All residents who get visited by staff would have to direct them to the permissions board to confirm that griefing is indeed allowed within Vegas.

Why It Wouldn't Work

See page: Grief

A lot of loopholes would have to be crossed for this town to even be developed.

1. Such a town would be painful and impractical to set up and operate.

2. There is a very low chance that every staff member would agree with its existence.

3. It would be seen as a headache by the staff team, who get notified whenever a block is modified. The griefing in Vegas might block actual grief notices.

4. Related to this, the town would take up unnecessary staff time and resources.

5. The town rules would have to be extra specific, as to make sure the grief is confined to the inside of Vegas only.

6. The existence of such a town would be antithetical to the nature of McO, as one of the server's pulls is the strict enforcement of the anti-griefing rule.

7. New players might get the wrong idea with the town, and might think grief is allowed in every settlement as long as it's within its borders.

8. Admins might ban players by using Log Checks.
