Woodbury is a city founded by getplayerhead.sh?Smaugthegreat107&16.png Smaugthegreat107 located in the icy south of the server. Its name came from the city of the same name from the walking dead and is intended to have a similar small town vibe.

Foundation

This small city got its start in February 2017 when Smaug did the /wilderness command while he was still new to the server. The command placed Smaug into a hilly tundra. From here, he built a quaint little house. Smaug was, however, inspired by the great builds of the server and left unsatisfied so he decided to leave his own mark on the server. This led to the town that would come to be called Woodbury.

The first grueling phase of construction was the excavation of the hilly tundra down to water level. Despite the extreme block lag of 2017-2019, Smaug, with a few unenchanted diamond pickaxes and shovels, created a perimeter for the village and excavated all of the rock and dirt there singlehandedly.

While excavating the land, Smaug left his house alone with only a set of stairs to reach the former mineshaft opening resulting in Smaug's famous floating house. It had a 16+ block gap between the ground and the bottom of the house, It still sat where the ground formerly was until it was moved.

Also, while excavating, and with the help of getplayerhead.sh?Rufas&16.png Rufas's cobblestone generator, Smaug laid out the walls and the first tower. This tower is currently the tallest thing in the icy north and stares out over it like a frozen sentinel.

When the excavation work had completed, Smaug set up a layout for the town and made a few buildings. Materials are limited due to block lag but as he acquires more bricks and spruce, he slowly further builds up the buildings. The main framework and shell of most buildings have been completed.

Expansion

Smaug realized a mistake late into making some of the buildings. He had left no room for player plots. Because of this, He took the time to extend the southern road and sidewalks and wrap them around to the large farm. On the outer edge, He placed multiple empty plots marked by fences. The inner edge of this expansion will eventually be a quaint public park.

Layout

The town of Woodbury has 4 streets, sidewalks, 4 walls, and (eventually) 4 towers. On the side facing spawn, There are 2 empty plots and the house of the owner and founder, Smaug. The house was moved from its floating position when the layout was completed. On the two long sides, there reside townhouse style brick buildings which will house apartments, restaurants, a bank, a museum, a theatre, a grocers, and much more. Also on this side is a gas station. On the side facing world border, there will eventually reside a stadium, a community diner, and a police station. In the island created by the 4 roads, there is currently a church, a town hall, and a monument to Smaug, the governor (I tried to style him after the guy from season 3 of the walking dead but it did not work out).

Outside of the town walls, the town also has a nether link to Haven, a cobblestone generator kindly made by Rufas, a god plant farm, a cocoa farm, a chicken farm, a pig farm, a 30+ spawner mob grinder, and the aforementioned expansion.

Housing

Smaug feels that Woodbury is close enough to completion that, if people do not mind living in a mostly empty town, they can safely move on in. There are three housing options in Woodbury:

-The Apartments: 1 diamond block per month.

The apartments are located throughout the long brick buildings that span Woodbury. They are rather narrow but consist of three floors and the owners can make as many basements as they disire. The apartments are empty and the owner can customize them as they see fit. The only limitations are to not break the front or side walls and to not break any roof blocks. Other than that, the decor is free reign.

-Expansion plots: 5-7 diamond block for permanent ownership.

These are for those who want a little room to grow, a little stability, and a little taste of the american dream. These plots are more strict in design aesthetics. You can build what you wish here be it a home, a buisness, a school, or a resturaunt. Though, we need to keep the style in the 1950s style suburbia. I reserve the right to edit or possibly (with ample notice) remove any builds that stray too far off of the suburban theme.

-Townhouse: 1 beacon and 6 diamond blocks for permenant ownership.

These two plots are for those who want to live the high life. They have the big house and the big cheese. These are for those who are veterans and have earned their keep and their rest. These are two plots that flank my house at the head of Woodbury. The rules of keeping it suburban still apply though with the added requirement of 150 hours played or having been on MCO since 2018.

Overall, go with the prices listed on the wiki though I do have prices posted on the plots themselves. Also, do not worry, I will not be too strict. you will have to really stray from suburban to have me take notice and I will give a 1 month notice to offenders to fix their build. Being a Woodbury resident entails usage of all services provided including the grinder. Message me in game if you want a plot. I will show you how to operate the grinder.

Future

Smaug desires this town to eventually have a nexus link due to its isolation and wants it to be a jumping point for the upcoming 1.12 expansion. Smaug has also made little embassys in the recent world expansion that happened due south of Woodbury. This includes a world border embassy and a quaint cabin at y=161 in an extreme hills biome.
