The River Bleen (aka. The Bleenriver) is a river that crosses the whole of "The Graveyard of Hope" region of Newsoutheria in Freedonia. It begins at the Swampy Lakes, continues as the border of Libertaria, then winds through the Bleen Woods. Afterwards it turns around and meanders on the outside of the Bleen Swamp, turns around again and cuts through the Bleen Valley until it finally enters the Sea of Cliffs, where Port Bleenriver of Intermaria is located.
Name
The name "Bleen" or "Bleenriver" comes from the river changing its colour regularly. Every winter it becomes green from the bacteria that come from the swamps. The bacteria then multiply and spread across the whole river, turning it green. As the time passes, the bacteria start to die out from the higher temperatures, cleaning the water and turning it blue again.
Geography
The river has no tributaries, is partially underground, flows through a swamp and a mountain range in an obscure location. The geography of this water feature is truly something incredible.
Libertaria border
The river at Libertaria's border has a lot of underground / drier sections. That is largely caused by the wall, that is the border. Because it is on a hill, the weight of it caused multiple landslides over the past years which covered up the river and caused problems further along the river.
The Bleen Woods
The river is quite flat in the Bleen Woods, due to the forest being on a lowland plain. It is often wide and has lakes springing out, as well as meanders along its way.
The Bleen Swamps
What once was a part of the Bleen Woods, now is swamped due to slowing down of the current, tectonic activity and global warming. This originally was on a flat floodplain, very close to the sea. But because of this area being particularly tectonically active not a long time ago, the floodplain was lowered to almost line up with the sea level. It was pretty stable until the global warming began and the sea level rose by merely a meter. This caused the plain to be constantly covered in water (the Bleen Sea is one of the least salty seas in Freedonia). After some time the swamping had begun. But after the slowing of current by multiple landslides up- and downstream, the swamping has accelerated.
The Bleen Valley
The valley developed a very long time after the river. It was caused by tectonic activity in the area millions years ago. The river was cutting through the rock over thousands of years, ignoring the growing mountains. At the end of the mountains' growth, parts of the river got caught underground and the first current slowing happened.
Places
The river is quite long and flows through quite a lot of places. But there is a reason this region is called "The Graveyard of Hope". Most places are abandoned but there are active and living ones. So here's the list:
Living settlements
Abandoned places
- The Lilyshack
- Captaindurpyyy's house
- MozillaFoxy's place
- AhnKagi's bobble house and ravine

About the images
These images were taken by Sweetcorm while exploring the river. They were taken while going upstream and in the gallery they are positioned in the opposite order, from the source to the mouth of the river.
