Yoru no Jiin is a Japanese Castle on the far outskirts of Saikyo.
History
The construction of Yoru no Jiin began during Hirudo6's early days on the server. He had walked, climbed, and swam all the way from Quarryton to reach the island of Saikyo, and chose the northwesternmost point of the island as a suitably dramatic location for the castle.
As it was technically Hirudo's starter base, it started out very humbly. It took a long time for enough stone to be mined out from nearby caves, smelted into smooth stone, then placed into the castle's foundations, especially amidst the brutal lag that was prevalent in those days. Hirudo often slept beneath the stars, with only a small shelter and a furnace for company. Occasionally, he would roam the forest, slaying mobs to gather XP.
Once the stone foundation was complete, Hirudo moved operations inside, beginning construction on the castle itself. Due to being unaware of mass auto-farms on the server, all of the materials were gathered by hand or stolen. For a long time, there was a massive pit of sheep nearby that produced wool for the walls.
As Hirudo roamed around the western borderlands, he often took building materials from unlocked chests, notably a large supply of spruce wood from nearby Hafenburg, and many stacks of cobble from private bases further south. As such, complemented by manual harvesting of wood and stone, the frame and roof of the castle were completed first. (The sheep, unfortunately, fell behind on their production quotas.)
Eventually, despite horrendous block lag and the difficulty of hand-gathering goods, the castle was completed. Hirudo6 would move his main operations to the center of Saikyo, although it took several months before all his items and chests followed.
Naming
Yoru no Jiin was named after its completed. Taking inspiration from the dark walls and the astronomic themes of the nearby Project MOON, its name was meant to mean "Temple of the Night." However, this was named before Hirudo had ever lived in Japan, and thus, when his Japanese skills were less developed. It's actual meaning is closer to a Buddhist holy building. Hirudo has considered renaming it to be more correct, but for the time being its name will be preserved for historical reasons.
