Vine Farm
The primary activity currently being done in Camp Newbie is cutting Vines.
- Any player has permission to cut vines here.
- Any player has permission to place vines on the walls of the interior courtyard area.
- If you want to make efficient use of the farm, leave the topmost row of vines, which should be below the opening on each floor. This allows the vines to grow downwards into the openings of every floor at once.
In the unlikely event that Citizens of Camp Newbie decide to build in the area where vines currently grow, then of course this permission is no longer applicable. (and if that happens, please modify this wiki page to remove this section)
Purpose
This building/village was created around New Year's of 2022 by abamacus for two reasons.
- New players often "need" (want) a place to join, but they usually aren't truly interested in a permanent base but just a leg-up.
- The Zelda Map 2 project needed thousands of Vines for Mossy Cobblestone and Mossy Stone Bricks; and Vines cannot be auto-farmed, nor instant-broken. So having new players earn some (relatively) quick diamonds by chopping vines seems like an ideal fit.
- (this did not fare that well, since months later the full amount of Vines was gained mostly from abamacus cutting his own and buying out the Emerald Mall stock, but a few stacks were gotten from Camp Newbie)
Rules
Breaking any of these rules revokes your permission to this build immediately. Subject to ruling of abamacus and/or MCO Staff. (all Moderators are given explicit permission by abamacus to enforce any of these rules in his absence, and of course admins already have that right inherently)
- You may not modify the in-game room that lists the rules except to properly modify names of Citizens and Criminals.
- No PVP within this building.
- Do not modify or steal from the Vine Shop on Floor 21.
- In the unlikely event that this [Shop] is out of Diamonds, any MCO staff is welcome to come open the chest and take 64 Vines for every Diamond they leave behind.
- Do not extend this build outside of bounds, which is the building's base, a 64x64 area (4 chunks by 4 chunks, on chunk boundaries), from Y=60 up to Y=256.
Guidelines
These Guidelines are not hard rules, but will be considered if any Citizen asks abamacus (or MCO Staff) to remove a player from the Citizen list and/or add them to the Criminals list.
- Don't touch my stuff
- If another player has their name on a room or chest, do not take from it without asking them.
- If a player has not been online (check with /lastseen) for at least 3 months, it is generally ok to move their items, and/or remodel an area they were working on, without their permission.
- If a player has not been online for 6 months or more, anything they left on-site is totally fair game to be taken/destroyed/etc.
- Build more than you break
- If you want to destroy a machine, farm, etc in Camp Newbie that is totally allowed, but please only do this if you will replace it with something that you believe is better than what you destroyed.
