The Great Circle Route Part A Boat Race of 2022 was the second boat race to take place since boat races made a return to Freedonia and would feature new mechanics for boat races to use in the future.

Rules
- Follow the route but shortcuts are ok if you can find them.
- Using projectiles of any kind is not allowed
- No other kind of PvP is allowed
Keeping score with help from Llamas
Llamas make a return, to help counteract PvP and validate winners! This boat race saw the trial of teams to track the progress of the race as it happened. To enter the race players needed to click a sign to be assigned to the boat race team, indicated by a green username in the [TAB] list. When players were in this team a scoreboard would keep track of the landmarks they had visited and obtained advancements for. These advancements were visible in the "Boat Race" tab of the advancements menu in-game and were used to verify the winners and prevent cheating; such as flying with an elytra to the last leg of the race and reaching the finish early.
