Notation
In the table above, in column "Sign":
- Bold text is the literal value to place on the sign.
- Any of the symbols : @ + - are literal values you write on the sign.
- Square brackets [ ] on the second line are literal values; but on the third or fourth lines, they indicate that what is inside them is optional. An equals sign = inside them indicates a default value.
- The pipe symbol | means there are alternative values to choose from; except for line 2 of MCX211 where you type the | to separate the two item IDs.
Notes
- Placement: All of these Signs will function when placed on the side of a block as a "Wall Sign". Only a few will work as a "Standing Sign", placed on the top of a block, and they are: CartDeposit, CartCollect, Bridge, Door, Gate
- At the time of writing (October 2022), both MCX206 Flex Set and MCX211 ToggleBlock are disabled (admin only), due to an unpatched bug. Once this is fixed, they are expected to be eligible for placement by any registered player.
- "Chest" always includes either a single or double chest.
- All of these will accept a Trapped Chest or Trapped Double Chest
- EXCEPT for MCX202 Chest Dispenser which will not use the Trapped versions.
- When placing items from a Chest, if insufficient items are available in the first chest, the search will continue to look for other available chests in range until the full number if items are found, or there are no more chests in range.
- EXCEPT for MCX202 Chest Dispenser which will only use the first chest in range.
- Similarly, when collecting items into a chest, if the first chest is full (or becomes full with collected items), other eligible chests may be filled as well.
- All of these will accept a Trapped Chest or Trapped Double Chest
Search Sequence and Area
When multiple items are possible, but not all can be used, the order in which they are chosen may be significant depending how you use this Craftbook IC.
- Spherical area (block) - when selecting a chest to place items into or take items from, it closest (geometric) block to the Sign is chosen first.
- For chests that are an equal distance from the Sign, testing shows that the order is consistent (repeatable), but does not appear to follow a simple explainable pattern. Therefore, testing is recommended.
- Spherical area (entities) - not tested, but seems likely that closest entities are chosen first.
Here are some more detailed explanations of areas mentioned in the above table.
- "Entities within sphere"
- For Chest Collector, this sphere is centered on the lower north-west corner of the sign. Radius 1-8 as specified on sign, defaults to 8.
- For Area Planter, sphere center is the middle of the block that the sign is attached to. Radius is approximately 5 blocks more than the largest of the X or Z values given in the area being planted.
- "one container in 17x17x17 box":
- "4.5 Block Sphere": refers to a spherical area of blocks, centered on the Sign. This sphere generally appears to be 4 blocks, but it extends 5 blocks in the directions of the 6 straight-lines away from the Sign (North/South/East/West/Up/Down).
- "Chests within box 5x2x5": the CartDeposit and CartCollect signs will search for chests within the 5x5 box centered on the Iron Ore or the Rail placed on it.
- The search order is: lowest X, lowest Z, lowest Y
- "Chest within box 10x10x10": the Chest Dispenser search area is a box centered on the lower north-west corner of the sign.
- The search order is: lowest X, lowest Y, lowest Z
Activation
All MCX*** signs above are only activated by a Redstone signal change. Powering the signal will activate the sign. Depowering redstone will reverse the transfer when possible; also note that MCX213 Harvester is "activated" when depowered, effectively acting like MCX207 if it could not ever place blocks.
The cart signs for [Deposit] and [Collect] are activated when a minecart enters the block above the Iron Ore, at sufficient speed.
All of the [Bridge], [Door], and [Gate] signs may be activated by redstone or by right-clicking the sign. When redstone is used, powering will always place blocks from chests, and depowering will collect blocks into chests. When right-clicking, if any blocks are eligible to be removed, then they will be collected into chests; otherwise blocks will be placed from chests.
WorldEdit CUI
WorldEdit CUI is a client mod, that has mixed support for displaying the areas of these signs.
- MCX203/MCZ203 Chest Collector: shows the "from" sphere (in blocks; not precise), AND when specified shows the single "to" block
- MCX207 Advanced bridge: shows the "to" box
- MCX208 Advanced door: shows the "to" box
- MCX213 Harvester: shows the "from" box
- MCX215/MCZ215 Area Planter: shows the "to" box
- MCX216/MCZ216 Planter: shows the "to" box
