General

Floatsam is a small village created by getplayerhead.sh?FudgeMonster28&16.png FudgeMonster28. Currently the village features a winding network of paths that connect public farms, a hotel and viewpoint of the local area. The hotel is currently unfinished. Floatsam contains an embassy to Mistral Valley as well as being one of the initial members of the Freedonian Commonwealth, an alliance connecting the active residents of the continent together. It is connected to the Nether Highway System for the Freedonian Commonwealth.

Floatsam has no current passport or intention toward doing so. It is situated on the Freedonia Highway Route 101 near Oakland. Currently there is one resident of Floatsam, with the embassy for Mistral Valley being the home of getplayerhead.sh?CaptainIceman&16.png CaptainIceman. Floatsam is a small private build, but other users can choose to join buy buying a house in the village. Houses can be free, or worth up to Five iron ingots. Once a house is claimed, a player can feel free to decorate their home's interior however they please. Floatsam is also a part of two different Boat Routes, including the Aeginus Route and the Mistral Route.

History

Floatsam was started in 2021, as the only project of FudgeMonster28. Originally, he wanted the area to feature a public farm, so travellers using Route 101 could have some food in order to not starve. He liked the idea of rural mountain villages, where homes where stacked on top of each other at odd angles, and wanted to try replicate that style in his own settlement. Initially he created the western canal bridge and central courtyard before taking a break for two years straight. One project from this time includes the underwater hotel, which to this day is still incomplete.

Upon returning, getplayerhead.sh?FudgeMonster28&16.png FudgeMonster28 began working on a lot more. Adding new homes to each other, as well as a dock on the eastern side, and allying with Mistral Valley, Floatsam soon grew, densifying into the little boat town it is today, with a park and information for travellers or those on boats.

There are some projects that FudgeMonster is still looking into building. One would be finishing the hotel, allowing people to stay for the night and giving a new source of income for the village. The second would be a silo/granary, which would allow for a public storage space. These areas are both in the central area of Floatsam. On the eastern banks of the river, there are plans for a street on Floatsam with shops and a church. However, this plan would only come to fruition if there were more residents living within Floatsam that could justify the additions. The church would be another addition for the Holy Church of Yan.

Lore

The original villagers of Floatsam were nothing more than common settlers looking for a place to stay. To those in Spawn City, they found it lively and exciting but wished for a place to stay further out than the cramped conditions of the megalopolis, which encompassed many towns such as CatVille, Glenfiddich and DrumCity. Starved and tired, the people searched for a place to stay that they could call home. Their inspiration came from that of a beaver, whose home sheltered them during a heavy storm. When the storm broke, the people saw an island with a tree full of golden berries. They decided to settle, inspired by the beaver to make homes using the rubble from the storm that had floated down from Oakland and other places. Connecting it to the already existing bridge, the village of Floatsam was started.

To this day the villagers still respect the story of the beaver, becoming fishermen and building their homes to create peace with the waters.

There is no eastern expansion of the village yet so the story so far ends here.
