Western Waters Shipping Co. is a ship-based shipping company that operates in the western ocean of Freedonia. Famous for its wine exports, it also commands a small trade network across its regions of operations.
Headquarters and Winery
- The corporate headquarters is located inside Phoenix Isles at the edge of the North Expanse. It handles decision-making for the company and is responsible for developing new products, managing partnerships, and commanding the naval fleets. The winery and port for the ships are located on two neighboring islands in the Homefront region.
Regions of Operation
- Fitting to their name, the western half of Freedonia's oceans is split up into regions. They are used to help coordinate the fleets and organize the arrival points.
North Expanse
- One of the last major expansions to the operation, the North Expanse earned its name from the wide-open ocean that populates the northwestern land of Freedonia. It contains a lot of smaller islands and the Headquarters for the company.
Lunar Lake
- Named after Project MOON, this region includes both the historic floating city and the heavy metropolitan centers to the west. Saikyo is a major distribution port for trade fleets. After Scar took over the small business, linking up with Project MOON was one of the first goals and proved to be fruitful.
The Narrows
- The Narrows became a very infamous name amongst captains for its geography. Most of the ocean is cut off with the mainland cutting through and the most direct route being a bunch of narrow rivers. It proved difficult when first reaching toward Project MOON and to this day still provides an active challenge for inexperienced captains.
Homefront
- Home to the original Winery, the Homefront region is where Western Waters all began. In the early days, it was the only region reachable by a small number of ships. Although technically outside the border, Winterthorn was important enough to receive its own dedicated schedule of ships. In more recent years, Jessica's Cafe officially partnered with Western Waters and now is a popular historic spot in the city.
X Corridor
- More accurately called the Ex-Corridor, this rural region was once vital to early expansion efforts. The populace cities of the south made it a highly traveled stretch of sea. Although still used, it is mostly forgotten when compared to the other regions.
Deep South
- The far south of Freedonia once experienced a civilization boom making it the ideal goal for the small winery to originally reach. It became the spark that boomed the company into the juggernaut it is today, and still provides a large amount of revenue generation. Given its distance from the Homefront and Lunar Lake, some trade vessels remain local to the area and only make the long journey back every few months.
Storefronts
- Many shops are supplied by Western Waters, but only a few are owned by the company itself. The following storefronts are directly owned or partnered with the Western Waters Shipping Co.
- Creme De Le Creme in the Western Waters HQ
- The Har-Bar in The Archipelago of Project MOON
- Flanc Cabaret located in Dragon River Peak City.
- Verua Sawmill located in Verua.
- Jessica's Cafe located in Winterthorn.
Distribution Fleets
- The naval ships sailing around the expansive ocean keep the wine and other goods in full distribution.
Main Fleet
- The main fleet is responsible for distributing wine to the different taverns and bars it supplies. Its exact scale is confidential but is publicly estimated to contain at least 15 main vessels.
Trade fleet
- Stated as twice the size of the Main Fleet, the trade fleet handles official trade business between different port cities and the company. Any non-alcoholic goods are transported through these smaller vessels.
Independent Merchants
- A small number of independent merchants are contracted and operate an unofficial third fleet. They are mostly known for covering rural inland areas outside the active regions.
