Looking for the world region? See Ganaz (world region).

Note: this page is about a natural lake and contains many builds made by many different people. No one person owns everything inside this lake.

Lake Ganaz (also known as Humungomonus Lake) is a large lake in the southern parts of Freedonia, probably the biggest lake in the Outer Land Disc. It was generated around 2011. It is the home of many builds, including Qarn Al Katra, a luxury apartment complex built by getplayerhead.sh?SlowRiot&16.png SlowRiot himself, and the Ryujin Castle, built by getplayerhead.sh?Raggus&16.png Raggus and getplayerhead.sh?fmxstick&16.png fmxstick.

The lake serves as the namesake as well as the geographical center of the world region of Ganaz.

Etymology

The name "Ganaz" derives from the Arabic words for "southern islands" (aljuzur aljanubia) due to the fact that it has a lot of islands. Its name was originally going to be Ganuzur (from the janu- and -zur parts of the words mentioned earlier), but for it to be pronounced easier it was changed to "Ganaz".

Back in late 2019, HY (then known as ErenStampy) gave the lake the name of Humungomonus, which referred to the size of the lake, which is absolutely humungous. But, of course, it was changed to Lake Ganaz later on.

History

The Ganaz Void, what would become Lake Ganaz, back in 2011.

Before 2011, the area that would become Lake Ganaz was a huge empty void, devoid of any land. Most likely coming from the admin disaster dubbed The Nothing! HY decided to dub the void that would become Lake Ganaz, the "Ganaz Void".

Looking at the wiki histories of several builds located in the lake, the first suspected build built on Lake Ganaz was Qarn Al Katra, started around November of 2011, a month before the Ryujin Castle was started construction. It might not be the very first build in the lake but it is the oldest one that there is a record of construction of.

Due to its absence in the July 2011 map and the appearance of Qarn al Katra's wiki page in November 10th 2011 (a full week before the full release of release 1.0), the majority Lake Ganaz is predicted to have been in version Beta 1.8. This prediction is further supported by the fact that the world generation inside of Lake Ganaz is insular, which didn't exist in versions before Beta 1.8. There was a problem in Beta 1.8 and future versions until release 1.7, in that oceans became more and more common as you ventured away from spawn, effectively resulting in infinite ocean by the time you ventured to 30,000 blocks. The generation inside of Lake Ganaz bears resembles to this quirk. Although, a large chunk of the terrain in Lake Ganaz, namely most of Ezimae Island, seems to have generated before Beta 1.8, owing its similarity to world generation before that time. It could be that what was the Ganaz Void was once fully Beta terrain, before The Nothing. Maybe only a small bit of terrain could be restored, while the rest of the area became new terrain. The world generation outside of Lake Ganaz is pre-Beta 1.8 since it appears in the July 2011 live map, before Lake Ganaz was generated.

As mentioned, the Ryujin Castle was started a month after Qarn Al Katra, which makes it the second oldest build (with a wiki page) that was built in the lake. There are no records of the founding of the other settlements and builds found on the lake since they dont have records of founding. In September 2019, the Midlake Island settlement was founded by getplayerhead.sh?HY_Turkic&16.png HY_Turkic and getplayerhead.sh?LolePlay_PL&16.png LolePlay_PL, which would eventually turn into Takadokia, the biggest settlement in the lake, bringing with it many new builds.

The Large Islands

There are two large islands in Lake Ganaz; Ezimae Island and Rafikae Island, which are the largest and smallest of the islands respectively. Ezimae contains the Qarn Al Katra and Wool Town, while Rafikae contains getplayerhead.sh?Otis_Wong&16.png Otis_Wong's small town.

Ezimae Island

Ezimae is an almost exact square inside of Lake Ganaz, with it being about 450 blocks by 400 blocks. It contains a swamp biome as well as a very small tundra biome. Its name comes from the Arabic word for "great" (eazim), which refers to its size, as it is the greatest island in terms of size in the lake.

Rafikae Island

Rafikae is a more irregular blob-shaped island, located right next to Ezimae. It is roughly 240 blocks by 190 blocks, which is about half the size of its larger neighbor. Nevertheless, it is the second biggest island in terms of size. Its name comes from the Arabic word for "companion" (rafiq), because it is very close to Ezimae and is like a companion to it in that regard.

Settlements

Below is a list of settlements that were founded and are located inside Lake Ganaz. This list does not include settlements located just outside of the lake, i.e Southwest Haven.

  • LoleTown 2.0, founded by getplayerhead.sh?LolePlay_PL&16.png LolePlay_PL
  • LilTown, most likely founded by getplayerhead.sh?Lilbatesperu&16.png Lilbatesperu & getplayerhead.sh?Gardy64&16.png Gardy64, a beautiful old town covered with colorful wool. Located on Ezimae Island.
  • Otis_Wong's Small Town (nickname), most probably founded by getplayerhead.sh?Otis_Wong&16.png Otis_Wong, a very small town with Beta vibes. Located on Rafikae Island.
