History

The Caretakers of MOON were founded to help reconstruct Project MOON, and later began the initiative to locate and restore Project SUN. Over time, after making contact with Chala Kii, they helped fortify the Cascadian Gateway. This ancient structure contained many secrets but was notable as a portal to the elusive End Dimension. With the hope of colonizing and studying the new world for the long term, the Caretakers of MOON eventually decided to create a tertiary project. Project DUSK was the brainchild of ScarClaw72, and was later aided by both Eclypto18 and SadieSadie. The three-step approach would hopefully kickstart a new interest in End colonization, and set up the infrastructure necessary for the dream to become a reality.

Phase 1: Purgatory

The first step was to construct a refueling station and safe habitat on the verge of The End Dimension's wasteland. It was quickly dubbed Purgatory, given its position between the vast unknown and the close proximity to the portal home. Blueprints were drafted early on by ScarClaw72 and Eclypto18 and later built by Scar and SadieSadie. It was deemed crucial to find a location near a Gateway so that it could better fulfill its purpose, but finding an island large enough proved to be a hassle. Thankfully with a little terraforming, it was made possible, and Purgatory opened its doors to the server on August 30th of 2022.

Phase 2: Lonesome Road

Both the overworld and nether have extensive highway networks. The Sol Tunnels, Freedonia Road Co., and Nether Highway System are just a few examples. The End in its current state had no such organization or system, given its completely barren nature. Although not interested in developing an entire network, Project DUSK wanted to include a border-long road that offered travel to the furthest reaches of the wasteland. It would allow its third phase to be easily reachable, create an easy passage across the disconnected islands, and also invite other players to build their own creators along its route. This road less traveled, colloquially known as The Lonesome Road, is over 3 kilometers long beginning in Purgatory and ending in Cascadia. It was primarily designed and built by Eclypto18.

Phase 3: Cascadia

A true frontier, Cascadia was the first proper attempt to colonize the end dimension. It sits at the edge of the world, inviting those brave enough to come to build and establish a home in its reclusive community. For many, the journey to get there alone is a monumental task, but what they will find is one of the most unique and special cities in Freedonian history. Founded by ScarClaw72 and SadieSadie, it began with a town hall and a simple road network around the neighboring islands. It is the furthest any Freedonian has dared to go, and likely will be able to go for quite a long time.
