The Takadokian Ice Road Company (or TIRC for short) is a subsidiary of Freedonia Road Co. It manages all of the Ice Roads located throughout Takadokia. The Ice Road is split into Northern and Southern lines. The Nothern Line is located north of Velazzo, and the Southern Line is located south thereof. Northern Line stops are marked with blue, and Southern Line stops are marked with red.

In February 2023, TIRC ceased operations in Old Loletown, with the roads there being dismantled.

History

Ice Road v1

The first Ice Road line in Takadokia was between Nea Makedonia and New Azerbaijan, constructed in early March 2020. This first Ice Road design consisted of an ice floor under slabs with cobble wall on each side, and the top was slabs and on top of those was cobblestone (this is now retroactively called Ice Road v1). The Ice Road was pretty effective but it had a flaw; the cobble wall sides would stop the momentum of anyone travelling. As the month progressed, more and more stops were added. A few months later, the Ice Road had connected the most distant parts of Takadokia together. It was around this time that the first branches outside of Lake Ganaz were installed, in Old Loletown (which has since been demolished) and the UDNSI (which now belongs to Sand Island).

Ice Road v2

HY thought it was time to renovate the Ice Road, and he came up with an enclosed tunnel-like system, which would make it hard to see but the users would not get stuck on walls (this is now retroactively called Ice Road v2). This renovation of the Ice Road had some criticism, but by the time this criticism had come, HY had implemented this design all around Takadokia, so he had to painstakingly tear down all the second cobble layer.

Ice Road v3

What HY was left after he took down the second cobble layer was basically Ice Road v1 but with cobble block rails instead of walls and no cobble on top of the slabs. This design had one more flaw: it was too narrow. HY realised the narrowness made it harder to travel in the Ice Road.

Ice Road v4

When HY was looking at the Ice Road, he noticed that the road took too many turns, which did not help to its narrow design and did not help it be faster. To solve these problems, HY went to implement the biggest renovation to the Ice Road to date: Ice Road v4. He made the Ice Road itself three blocks wider, and now used birch rails instead of cobble. This makes it seem more aesthetically pleasing. He made it look much nicer overall and it was a much needed cleanup to the Ice Road, and he thinks he did a good job!

Ice Road v5

It had been over two years since V4 was implemented. Now, a new plan was drawn up. It was to once again bring back the narrow ice roads, also found in places like Newport and New Eden, but with one major difference; this ice road would be airborne, floating around the build limit of 256 blocks instead of being underground or on ocean-level. This was to stop the ice road from disturbing ground operations. Materials gathered from dismantling the old ice road were used in the construction of the new one, and trapdoors were brought in. A stop for the Takadokia Lole Station was added during construction, too.

Trivia

the Nea Makedonia Ice Road Stop.
the Wshurba Ice Road Stop.
  • The Ice Roads built by the TIRC were inspired by New Eden's own Ice Highway, and HY was fond of the idea of a fast travel system using ice.
