MinecraftOnline has one key rule:
Rule One: "No Griefing" - Do not damage anything anyone else made.
This is referred to as "griefing" in shorthand, and is discussed in detail in the grief article.
However, maintaining playability and reasonable community balance on a public server requires more fine-grained control than this, so there exist a variety of more detailed rules and exceptions that deal with many areas of gameplay, from PVP to chat spam.
As a result, MinecraftOnline has two other main rules:
Rule Two: "No Spamming" - Do not flood the chat or overuse commands.
Spamming deprives others of the ability to use chat by obscuring their own chat messages and is not tolerated. If you're spamming, you will likely be banned without warning in order to stop the chat flood.
Rule Three: "No Cheating" - Do not use unfair ways to gain advantage in survival.
MinecraftOnline is meant to be a survival-mode server with fair gameplay. Mods and cheat clients that add features like X-ray, player-radar, ore finders, auto-attack or kill aura, and many other 'hacks' are not permitted. They are easier to detect than you might think and will get you a warning to disable it and a ban if you do not.
This category aims to catalogue the various rules and guidelines relevant to gameplay that exist within MinecraftOnline.
