The Birthday Cake is a large build owned by  ScarClaw72. It often hosts events, such as the Freedonia Birthday Parties.

Construction History

2016 - The Freedonia Cake

With the approach of Freedonia's 6th Birthday, ScarClaw72 had a crazy idea while on teamspeak with  Bowbyslag and pitched the idea of a giant cake.  Bowbyslag agreed to the idea, and together they began to work continuously. Many people came to help during the project, and thanks to the work of everyone it was completed on time. It hosted a party for the 6th birthday of Freedonia.

Fun Facts

  - Over 29,000 pieces of wool were used.

  - It took  ScarClaw72 several hours to try and wire the dancefloor before giving it up, 
and passing it over to  Zomon333.

  -  ScarClaw72 was at his grandparents and sadly missed the anniversary party.

  -  ScarClaw72 died 8 times from falling when building the walls and the roof.

  -  Bowbyslag was responsible for most of the resource supplying.

  -  skybirdthing left signs quite literally everywhere in the cake after the party.

  - 10 people total helped build the cake.

2020 - Foundations

In the leadup for the 10th Anniversary party, the original cake received some new infrastructure. Gone was the circle of ice where the project started, and in turn, some new platforms and underwater areas were created in order to offer new attractions. Almost all of this was built solely by  ScarClaw72, although there was some external help by  Anna_28

Additions

• The Spawn Platform

This decorative center circle features connections to the cake and all of the other new regions of the Anniversary Cake. Hanging above it is a red and white banner, helping direct players toward the center from a simple gaze up.

• Portal & Information Center

East of the spawn platform is the portal and information center. In the center is a portal linked to the Sol Tunnels as well as spawn, and displays the big advert wall where players can leave advertisements for anything they want to share during server parties. Originally built to be the nexus pads, the side wings were turned into the information centers, giving some quick info for those who do not wish to go digging through the plan book.

• The Auction & Bidding Rooms

Toward the south side of the spawn platform is the auction floor. On display are any items that are up for auction during server parties. In the center is a lift down to the bidding room, where bidders can stick up their cash.

• The Anarchy Box

Underneath the spawn platform is a terrifying sight. Never before has so much obsidian been seen in one box in Freedonia! Within the confines, anything can be built, and anything can be griefed. Make sure to leave your mark!

• The Build Contest Platforms

On the north side is the ever-expanding bunch of build contest platforms. Located here are the build contest contenders, where you can join with a chance to win some epic prizes!

2016 Party

The party held for Freedonia's 6th birthday.

The Party

Hosted primarily by  bowbyslag, after being built in time, a server party was hosted at The Anniversary Cake. Unfortunately,  ScarClaw72 was unable to make it to the party. Signs were flooded the top floor afterward due to  skybirdthing spamming them all over.

The party held for Freedonia's 7th birthday.

Plans Setup

 ScarClaw72 wanted to continue use of The Anniversary Cake, and decided to host another party for 2017. Unlike the previous year he made sure he would be able to attend and would be hosting it himself this year.

The Party

Unfortunately, the party turned out to be much smaller this time around, partly due to the server's overall popularity drop during the year. This put a halt on some of the future parties for a couple of years.

10th Birthday Party

The party held for the 10th birthday. It was sponsored by the admins. It featured many events leading up to the big day, and was accessible using a teleport pad from spawn.

Pre-Party Events

• Building Contest

The building contest had a very loose them, allowing anything that had some tie to the 10th anniversary or history of the server.  ScarClaw72,  Void42_, and  Eclypto18 judged the contest. The contest ran until the server birthday on August 4th, 2020, where the winner  tyhdefu was chosen. The winner received a stack of diamonds, 5 nether stars, their build featured in spawn, and a unique admin-created item. A total of 18 players entered the contest. Each contestant earned a unique consolation prize as well.

• Silent Auction

The silent auction offered some rare and unique items for people who were willing to put their money where their mouth is.

• Anarchy Box/Mob Pit

Open 24/7, this obsidian box of terror was originally an open ground for anyone to build or break to their heart's content. Upon request from the staff, it was shut down as to not interfere with mod duties. It was later repurposed as a mini dungeon run, filled with darkness and mobs galore.

Update: The box has been closed until the party day.

Party Events

• Diamond Raffle

The diamond raffle was a contest anyone who attended the party can enter. Open only on the server's birthday, players would right their name on a sign and were entered into a spinner. The winner will receive 32 diamond blocks, plus half of the proceeds of the auction.

• Treasure Hunt

Hidden around the cake and outside was be a bunch of chests with goodies.

• Awards Ceremony

At 5:00 GMT, the awards ceremony was be held where the build contest winners were be chosen, the raffle winner was be drawn, and the auction prizes were distributed!

• Capture The Flag

Hosted by  Eclypto18, at 7:00 GMT, there was a capture the flag event in the New Eden Arena.
