The Spawn Continental Railway is a railway company separate of the Freedonia Railway System. It connects towns across the server via a scenic ground rail network, places that get SCR stations usually are out of the way for other railways or don't have the qualifications for connects to the FRS.

Information

Founded in 2023 this company provides an alternative to the FRS which controls much of Freedonias rail. This companies works are primarily located in the Great Lakes Province. The railway uses a custom gauge thats cheaper and just as efficient as the FRS standard lowering construction costs.

Riding Information

Ticketing

Ticket booths are provided at every station. Tickets cost 8 gold ore and will allow you to travel freely on the line you paid for. If you loose your ticket you will have to buy a new one. There are two ticket types: physical tickets that work with Craftbook (not required, but are more afk friendly), and minecarts which are required for track use. Minecarts are sold at every SCR railway station for 8 gold ore and can be used almost indefinitely. Some stations though do have a minecart return, usually located at the end of railway lines.

Ticket Examples:

Riding

Stations are split into the manual and automatic categories. All manual stations get turned into automatic after a line gets enough use to allow for afk travel. Manual stations require you to press "w" in-order to move forwards. Automatic stations will send you forwards automatically after 20 seconds.

Connecting your town

Just ask! Currently we only do things within the spawn continent (spawn disk) but the goal is to expand into the borderlands sometime in 2024.

Management

The SCR lines are split into three categories in regard to management, they are listed below.

Line Type Distance between stops Description
Express 2500m and above Express lines are the largest lines operated by the SCR, they go extremely long distances between stops and usually stop at nexus towns or major cities.
Local Train Under 2000m to 400m Local Trains are the most common of SCR lines. They stop at basically every town they go by and are used for short commutes between locations.
ETC Varies, usually under 100m ETC refers to subways, funiculars, and other rail operations. These railways are usually subway networks within cities an serve to better connect urban areas.

History

2023

The SCR was first conceptualized when getplayerhead.sh?SiOtter&16.png SiOtter joined Emberrest, a town owned by getplayerhead.sh?Link03&16.png Link03. The two chatted about town management and wanted to better connect their cities, so a railway was thrown as an idea to do so. With a railway agreed upon, plans were set in motion to begin construction. SiOtter had the idea to have two lines directed from Kanal Town, so he contacted another local town mayor getplayerhead.sh?Kendon&16.png Kendon about connecting Kanal Town and Oak Town via rail. With these three towns in agreement the SCR company was born.

The SCR had three towns to connect via rail. Oak Town already had a historic railway that was privately owned, Kendon contacted the railways owner and it merged with the SCR. The railway was modified and used to test 3:9 gauge. It was decided that 3:9 gauge was too expensive for the SCR so the company switched to 2:10 gauge. A third stop was made at the suburb of Chilliwack which serves as a recourse hub for the railway. The railway line at this point was given the name "The Great Lakes Line" due to it connecting the two ends of the Great Lakes. Once the Great Lakes Line connected the three towns, work began on the unnamed Red (Express 1) line to Emberrest.

With the express only connecting two cities and SiOtter being impatient he contacted getplayerhead.sh?MonkeSniper221&16.png MonkeSniper221 about getting a rail link into the New United States. MonkeSniper suggested Eldermans as it was the closest town to Kanal Towns hub station. SiOtter contacted Eldermans founder getplayerhead.sh?Nez0l&16.png Nez0l and began discussing having the express end at his town. SiOtter came in contact with an old friend from toastcraft, getplayerhead.sh?Feb1980&16.png Feb1980. SiOtter and feb were talking railways when a line to the ancient town of Fjellby was planned. Around the same time SiOtter was in talks with getplayerhead.sh?FuzbolMC&16.png FuzbolMC about a Bear Town link and acquiring the BearTown-Freerdonia railway. With work stalled on the unnamed red line/express it was decided upon that New Oak Town would become the fourth constructed stop on the Great Lakes Line. Part of the decision to hook up New Oak Town was because of the easy access to the Western Ocean of Freedonia and the borderlands.

getplayerhead.sh?SiOtter&16.png SiOtter contacted the two Kanal Town members getplayerhead.sh?4dre&16.png 4dre and getplayerhead.sh?goofy_man_lol&16.png goofy_man_lol about a line connecting Citytown and Sandy Shades. This was called the "Expanse Line" and was the first railway in that section of the Borderlands. The Expanse Line name was short-lived as the city of Green Flowers ran by getplayerhead.sh?SonidoDeUnaPolka&16.png SonidoDeUnaPolka was also approached about a rail link. Plans were finalized that same day and suddenly the city owners found themselves in a rush to make a over 1.5k long railway in under a week. The expanse line opened late October 2023 and allowed for easier transport to the cities of Green Flowers and Citytown. The line was renamed the Alliance Railroad due to an alliance forming in these three cities due to how the railway linked them. This lines construction both delayed the Fjellby expansion on the Great Lakes and the Red Express (now called the Western Express).

Fjellby would be connected by rail on November 13th 2023 and marked the competition of the original Great Lakes Line plan. Construction also began to expand the Great Lakes Line further east towards the Blue-2 Nexus Link. The first ride on it would be with getplayerhead.sh?SiOtter&16.png SiOtter and getplayerhead.sh?4dre&16.png 4dre followed by a chaotic return trip to Kanal Town with getplayerhead.sh?Luigifan100&16.png Luigifan100. A new map would be released showing off the Beartown-Freedonia line and with a new logo specifically for maps.

On November 28th 2023 the SCR would release the first in-game railway map, the map is a 2x1 mapart displaying all the major lines the company operates.

2024

January 24th-25th 2024 the getplayerhead.sh?SiOtter&16.png SiOtter would begin to build the Great Lakes-B branch line and complete it within the same timespan. The branch line has a switch that allows transfers to either Fjellby or Know-Where. The Know-Where is also known as Redrose and was formed around the railway and large farm next to the hamlet. The switch was a major part of the railway and its design was planned to be used again for a Western Express branch line into Spawn. At the very end of the month, January 28th 2023: the railway would begin building towards Eldermans via the express line. The original focus was Emberrest; this however changed when the town was abandoned due to drama.

March 2024 saw the completion of the Western Express into Eldermans which was finished March 13th 2024. This was followed by the creation of the spawn line into Iceh on March 15th. The spawn line effectively killed any plans for the Western Express from going into spawn so talks with the citadel began on expanding the express into that town. Earlier that day getplayerhead.sh?SiOtter&16.png SiOtter and getplayerhead.sh?Revcha&16.png Revcha joking around about a 100m expansion to the beartown line - a distance reserved for subway lines turning into reality. The beartown line was expanded into Doggy Style Town making the joke turn real with its 4th station. The Beartown Line between Beartown and Freerdonia was also repaired the same day with tracks being fixed and stations upgraded to better fit the SCR. Construction also began earlier in the month on the Alliance Lines expansion into Shackcity and its neighbouring towns.
